Lateral Acceleration Sensor

Lateral Acceleration Sensor

The electronic stabilisation program uses an acceleration sensor to measure the lateral acceleration acting on the vehicle in order to calculate the vehicle’s actual position. The lateral acceleration sensor of the electronic stabilisation program is located in the same housing as the rotation-rate sensor (duo-sensor). Lateral acceleration acts on a vehicle laterally to the direction of travel. It is noticeable as a centrifugal force moving a vehicle to the outside of a curve when cornering, for example.
